| 9ct Gold Turquoise & Pearl Locket |
This is a beautifully decorative locket with a pearl and turquoise design on the front set in 9ct gold. It was actually originally a viniagrette and it has a small sponge inside where smelling salts would have been added. The front of the locket is delicately crafted to incorporate an open metalwork design allowing the scent to drift out from the locket.
This is a beautiful piece of memorabilia from the Victorian period demonstrating a common practice of the time. It is unusual to find a locket of this quality for this purpose. It could now also be used for photos.
It measures 2.8cm from the top of the loop to the tip of the heart and is 1.8cm wide. |
