This Georgian ring is a fine example of a ring from this period with a beautiful pink central ruby of a decent size with nine pearls surrounding it that have been claw set. The ruby has an open back, which really shows the vibrant pink colour at its best.
The stones are set in solid gold, probably 9ct. The ring is not hallmarked, but this is not unusual for a ring of this period. The shoulders of the ring are beaded with gold and this stops as the ring would go around the finger. This design adds extra charm to the ring.
One of the pearls is a slightly different colour from the others. Eight of them have a grey tinge to them, but the other has a slight pink tinge. This indicates that it is likely to have been replaced at some point. Otherwise, the ring is entirely original and this slightly different pearl does not detract from the ring's overall appeal. The whole setting is 1.2cm in diameter.
