This beautiful Regency mourning ring is in immaculate condition with a central old cut diamond surrounded by seed pearls. This is then circled with a width of black enamel, which is perfect and has not been restored. The shoulders of the mount and the shank are fully etched and it appears that the ring has never been resized as the pattern goes all the way around the shank.
Behind the central design is a locket back holding the original woven hair and there is an engraving around this glass backing which dates the ring as 1830, at the beginning of William IV reign.
To have survived this length of time and be in such immaculate condition is really quite astounding!
