| Victorian Silver Gilt & Turquoise Necklace |
This is a fabulous example of Victorian silver gilt. The necklace is beautifully made with stunning scroll and filigree detail making up the main of the necklace. The original turquoise stones are a gorgeous colour and offset the silver gilt perfectly.
Silver gilt jewellery is made from solid silver, but has gold leaf applied to the metal to give it a slight golden appearance. It was used regularly in the Victorian period as a cheaper alternative to solid gold.
The necklace is in perfect condition and is hallmarked as '800 silver gilt' on the back of the third drop from the left.
