| 9ct Gold Pencil Cross Pendant |
This is a remarkable Victorian piece. It is made from solid 9ct gold and has a mechanised pencil that slides down out of the bottom of the cross. The cross is etched on the back and the front and it has been fashioned in a hexagonal shape. The pendant has been tested as 9ct gold, though it is not marked. The metal that the pencil is held in is not gold and you can no longer write with it as there is no lead left. This does not detract from this quirky pendant. I have seen many silver pencils of this nature, but have never seen a gold one in the shape of a cross. It is a rare find. The cross measures 4.8cm by 1.8cm. When the pencil pops out, it adds 0.8cm to the length and the bale adds 0.7cm. |
