These gorgeous Georgian earrings have three black dot paste stones each. Each paste stone is 7mm in diameter and they are all set in solid silver. The earrings have 9ct gold wires, which have probably been changed later. These earrings may have been buttons, but have been converted expertly.

In total the earrings are 1.3cm in diameter and the hook at the top adds 0.4cm to the length. They are in beautiful condition and are original Georgian stones and silver setting.

Paste is cut leaded glass that has been faceted to resemble real stones. Some say the art of cutting paste is more difficult than diamonds and, therefore, many wonderful quality pieces were made with paste. Black dot paste is a mark of fine quality paste and it is so called because a black dot is painted on the bottom point of the stone, thus mimicking the culet found in diamonds, which can also look darker.
