This is a beautiful example of a solid gold locket. It is made from high carat gold, at least 14ct, but probably 18ct, and is in the shape of a heart. It is spectacular quality and is plain on both the front and the back in absolutely perfect condition.

It has an unusual opening where there is no hinge and the two pieces come completely apart, but are joined by the bale. It is probably from the early 20th Century, possibly Edwardian.

The gold has been tested as high carat gold, though this is not marked. The locket has one frame inside to hold a photo as demonstrated and measures 3.5cm from the top of the bale to the tip of the heart. It is 2.6cm wide at it's widest point and is 0.3cm deep. It is unusual to find such a large heart of this quality in such perfect condition.
