| Early Victorian Garnet 9ct Gold Pendant |
This is an eye catching and unusual shaped pendant from the early Victorian period, probably the 1840s. It is a rectangular design with eight oval foil backed garnets surrounding a central diamond shaped garnet stone. In between the stones is some excellent rose gold scroll work, which offsets the soft red of the stones to perfection. In each corner of the intricate design is four tiny seed pearls. The whole pendant is made from solid 9ct gold. It is not hallmarked, but has been tested as such. There are some small solder repairs to the back of the pendant, but these have not been done recently and are all exceptionally neat so do not detract from it's beauty and originality. The pendant hangs on a solid 9ct gold chain, which has an lovely interesting link alternating with gold bobbles. The chain is fully hallmarked with an old fashioned tab near the clasp and on the clasp itself. The chain is a later piece, probably early 20th Century. The pendant measures 2.5cm wide and 2.3cm deep. The jump ring adds an extra 0.5cm to the length. The chain is 16"/41cm. |
