| 18ct Gold Snake Head Pendant |
This eye-catching pendant is from the late Victorian period and is made from 18ct gold. It is in the shape of a snake head and has been altered from a bracelet clasp into a pendant. It has three large turquoise stones set across the top of the head and two vibrant red cabochon garnets as it's eyes. The top of the head is etched with an elaborate pattern in the gold, which adds to the piece's grandeur.Due to the fact that the pendant was originally a clasp, there is a square shaped hole in one side where the clasp would have been put into the side of the head. This does not detract from the pendant and adds to the originality. It has been converted with a silver set turquoise flower to the top.The pendant measures 3.8cm from the top of the flower to the nose of the snake. It is not hallmarked, but has been tested as 18ct gold. The jump ring is made from gold coloured metal. |
