| Murrle Bennet 9ct Gold Necklace |
This stunning and unusual necklace is from the early 20th Century and is made by the famous jewellery makers Ernst Murrle and John Bennet who had strong links with Liberty & Co in the Art Nouveau period (1895 - 1910). It is a beautiful piece with a central vibrant blue sapphire in a typically Art Nouveau design, hanging from which is a heart shaped cabachon citrine. At the top of the design is a small old cut diamond before leading into a beautifully crafted chain. The whole piece is in excellent condition and has the makers mark as MB&Co on the link at the clasp of the chain as well as a 9ct gold mark. The back of the pendant has been inscribed at some point, but this cannot be read. The pendant measures 4.8cm from the diamond setting to the tip of the heart and is 2.2cm at it's widest point. The chain measures 16"/40.5cm. |
