This beautiful ring is a stunning example of Shakudo jewellery. Shakudo originated in Japan and is an alloy of copper and gold. This alloy makes up the background of this piece of jewellery with different coloured gold (rose and yellow) and silver inlayed in the Shakudo to make a beautiful piece of 'damascene' jewellery. This particular piece depicts a typically Victorian subject matter of birds and flowers. The piece is double sided and shows another scene on the underside of the setting. The ring is truly marvellous and in excellent condition. The Shakudo is set in a 9ct gold setting, which is hallmarked on the inside of the shank. The setting measures 2.2cm by 1.4cm.Ring size UK K US 5.25 |
