Antique Sapphire & Rose Diamond Marquise Ring
A beautiful ring from the early 20th Century. The ring is made from 14kt gold and has a wonderful marquise shaped design at the centre. The central setting has a pierced gallery with a lovely faceted rectangular sapphire with rounded corners at the centre in a claw setting. The sapphire has a rich blue colour with no black undertones. This sits in the centre of a beautiful array of rose cut diamonds. The diamonds glisten prettily in their setting and the whole central design has a scalloped edge giving it a very appealing look. The ring has a lovely wide shank that narrows towards the back. It is unusual to have this wide a shank with this style of setting and it leads me to think that this ring could be a marriage between shank and setting. It is impossible to tell this as it has been done expertly and I rather like the alternative look that this ring has.
