Antique Large Opening Apple Pendant
An absolutely wonderful, large locket from the late Victorian period. The locket has been fashioned in the shape of an apple with so much lovely detail. It is made from solid 9ct gold, that may have had a higher gold wash at some point. Now the gold has a soft rosy hue as is often the case with 9ct gold from this period. It opens around the centre point on a hidden hinge and is large enough to fit little charms or a ring inside. The apple pushes shut and stays firmly closed, though it does not quite sit entirely flush. It is complete with a beautifully detailed leaf and a large bail to allow it to be worn on thicker chains. Such a magnificent piece!
The chains pictured are for display only.
