A pretty statement ring with the main element from the late Victorian period. The ring has a beautiful high dome of tortoiseshell that has been studded with little gold stars. The tortoiseshell likely started life as a button or a brooch and has been converted to a ring later on. It is backed by smooth gold and sits on a Victorian style shank with beautiful decorative shoulders. The shank is stamped with 15ct, though this looks to be a later mark to me, though the gold does test as 15ct.
This ring should be worn with care due to the mildly fragile nature of tortoiseshell.

Age - Late Victorian for the top, later for the shank
Size - The dome measures approx 18mm in diameter. The dome sits approx 14mm high from the finger
Ring Size - UK O ½ US 7 ½ This ring could be resized. The back of the ring is convex to the finger meaning that it might fit a little bigger than this, though it feels comfortable on my similar sized finger. Difficult to measure on the mandrel.
Condition - Very good. Wear commensurate with age.
