Art Deco Cherry Bakelite Earrings

£85.00

A fun and vibrant pair of earrings from the Art Deco period. The earrings are a wonderful example of the fun jewellery that was around during this period and are made from bakelite. Bakelite is the world’s first synthetic plastic and was discovered in 1907. It was often used in jewellery during the 1920s-40s and these fabulous cherry coloured drops make a real statement. The drops are faceted allowing the light to bounce around and the bakelite has a translucent quality. They are a lovely large size, though fairly lightweight for comfort, and hang from solid silver chains, complete with post and butterfly fittings.
