Art Deco French Snake Bangle

sold out

A striking and original bangle from the Art Deco period, c1920s. The bracelet is French in origin, marked as ‘Plaque or Lamine’ meaning rolled gold, and is a sprung snake bangle that coils around the wrist. The bracelet has an elegant snake head and tail that have green and black enamel in a geometric formation - very typical of this period.

The bracelet is a costume piece; the overriding colour is a very pale gold, somewhere between silver and gold. It slips over the hand or coils around the wrist as it has been made to be malleable, and stays in place perfectly. A great fit for most wrists; it could also be worn further up the arm if preferred - so stylish and classically Art Deco!

Details:

Materials - Rolled Gold, Enamel

Age - C1920s

Size - The snake head measures approx 16.5mm long. The coil is around 4mm wide. At rest, the internal diameter is around 5.5cm, though as mentioned above, this would fit most wrists.

Condition - Good. Some wear commensurate with age. Head does not fall in line, though this can be manipulated to sit as you wish. Some enamel loss to the head, please see the pictures.

Weight - 16.1g
