A beautiful pair of earrings from the Art Deco period, c1920s. The earrings are made from silver that was gilded at some point, though this has faded over time and the overriding colour is more towards silver. They have wonderful faceted teardrops of rock crystal set in cone settings. The shepherd hooks are decorated with a square cut red garnet.
The facets of the rock crystal allow the stones to sparkle prettily in the ear and the earrings are a lovely size making them easy to wear, though very eye-catching.
Details:
Materials - Silver (tested), Rock Crystal, Garnet
Age - C1920s
Size - The earrings measure approx 27mm long from the top of the garnet to the bottom of the rock crystal. The crystal is around 11mm wide.
Condition - Very good. Evidence of glue at the cone setting, likely original. One rock crystal is very slightly larger than the other, noted for accuracy only.
Weight - 6.4g the pair
