Georgian Blue Enamel & Diamond Locket Ring

£1,500.00

A wonderful ring from the Georgian period with an inscription to the back for John Fashion Esq, Ob. 6 Nov 1787, AE 46. The ring is a classic marquise or boat shape, typical of this period and date. It has a delightful closed back gold frame, into which a deep blue enamel panel sits in place. This is secure in its setting and took some coaxing to remove to reveal the locket compartment within! The enamel has a diamond set flower spray held at the centre and is in lovely condition.

The head of the ring test as 15ct gold, whilst the shank tests as 9ct gold; perhaps they are a marriage, though they appear to have come together in the distant past. The enamel panel is made from silver. The shank has pretty etching to each shoulder and the ring is perfectly curved to the back to sit comfortably on the finger.
