A stunner of a chain from the late Georgian period. The chain is made from pinchbeck, an alloy of copper and zinc that closely resembles gold in appearance. It was invented by Christopher Pinchbeck in the 18th century to create more pocket friendly jewellery items. This particular chain has the most gorgeous textured chunky belcher link and is in beautiful condition with minimal wear overall and a lovely gold colour.
It is complete with a solid gold clasp, which is a replacement to the original, though it came to me as it is. The clasp is classic to the same period and has lovely cannetille details. It is made from solid 15ct gold and set with four turquoise gemstones. It is in good working order and holds well in place. It adds a beautiful detail to this striking chain.
All other chains pictured are not for sale.
