An unusual and rarely found Georgian steel padlock clasp. The padlock was likely originally a clasp for a cut steel bracelet. Cut steel became popular as jewellery during the Georgian period as the metal was cut in a certain way to imitate the sparkle of diamonds in candlelight. This padlock is a simple design with a slim bevelled edge and a point to the bottom. It is in good working order, holding firm in place and is a lovely piece of jewellery history.
