Georgian Pinchbeck Chain, 15.75"

A lovely chain from the early 19th Century. The chain is made from pinchbeck, an alloy of copper and zinc that closely resembles gold in appearance. It was invented by Christopher Pinchbeck in the 18th century to create more pocket friendly jewellery items. These Georgian chains are very collectible and this one has a stunning textured twisted link. It is complete with an attractive, decorative barrel clasp that has a little scallop shell detail to the tongue, and is a very wearable length.

Size - The chain measures approx 5mm wide. It is around 15 ¾” long

Condition - Very good. Some wear commensurate with age
