An absolutely stunning bracelet from the late Georgian period, c1830s. The bracelet is made from pinchbeck, an alloy of copper and zinc that closely resembles gold in appearance. It was invented by Christopher Pinchbeck in the 18th century to create more pocket friendly jewellery items. This bracelet has been beautifully made with off square settings that hold wonderful agate gemstones of varying tones and colours, with one deep blue glass stone. I particularly like the green chalcedony stones and the moss agate; both of which add an eye-catching pop of colour.
The bracelet is in lovely condition with a hidden tongue clasp. The pinchbeck is also in good condition with little tarnish; you would be forgiven for thinking it was gold. A real statement bracelet.
Details:
Materials - Pinchbeck, Agate, One Glass
Age - Late Georgian
Size - The bracelet measures approx 41mm wide including the little ball designs to the outer edges. Each stone is around 12-13mm square. It is around 7 1/4” long. It is pictured on a 6” wrist and is ever so slightly too large for this size, though it would certainly not fall off.
Condition - Excellent. Minimal wear commensurate with age
Weight - 40g
