Late Georgian Decorative Paste Ring

£0.00
sold out

A pretty ring from the late Georgian period, c1830s. The ring has a pretty decorative design of old paste stones all set in pinched collet silver settings. The stones show minimal wear and sit in closed back settings giving them a slightly moody, yet bright appearance. Paste is a form of leaded glass that was used to imitate diamonds during this period. These particular pastes are old cuts with a smaller table and larger facets to create a subtle sparkle. The shank has a beautiful chased design all the way around and this completes the decorative look. It is made from 15ct gold cased metal, a method whereby thick sheets of gold were used to make the shank and filled with metal to create stability. A truly lovely, antique ring.

Size - The setting measures approx 19.9mm across by 7.2mm wide.

Ring Size - UK N US 6 3/4 This ring could be tricky to resize
