Late Victorian Love Knot & Heart Brooch
A pretty brooch from the late Victorian period, c1890s. The brooch is made from solid 9ct gold and is in excellent condition. At the centre of the classic bar style is a love knot with a heart dangling from it. The love knot is said to symbolise everlasting love and is said to relate to marriage (tying the knot). The heart drop reinforces this message. There are dots of turquoise and a little seed pearl set in the centre of the knot. A beautiful example and perfect worn as a brooch, though it looks great worn as an extender on a necklace too.
