A beautiful Victorian rock crystal beetle brooch. The brooch is made from 15ct gold with a 9ct gold pin and is set with foil backed rock crystal. The crystal quartz is in excellent condition and the foil looks to be all original with purple behind the main body, a pale orange topaz colour on the upper body and red on the head. The six legs are in good original condition and have little etchings in their gold form to represent small hairs.
The brooch has a secure pin and can be worn as a brooch or as a pendant; please see the pictures.

Size - The bug measures approx 25.5mm long by 23.5mm wide (widest leg to leg). The body is around 23mm by 13mm.
Condition - Very good. The pin has been repaired with lead at some point in the past. It functions well and this cannot be seen when worn.
Weight - 4.5g
