A lovely example of this style of Edwardian calendar. The calendar is made from sterling silver with full English hallmarks on the back for Birmingham 1903. It is a perpetual calendar with the outer disc rotating to allow the day letter to line up with the relevant date for each month. This can be altered as necessary to follow the current calendar.
The rarity of this particular example is the enamel to the front. The dark blue enamel remains in tact and is rather striking allowing the letters to ‘pop’ out from the colourful background. The central turquoise enamel has worn with time, particularly in the centre where a thumb would be regularly pressed to rotate the outer ‘day’ ring. Such a lovely detail showing the true life and use of this antique.
The chains pictured are for display only.
