Victorian 14kt Onyx Buckle Earrings

A stunning pair of earrings from the Victorian period, c1870s. The earrings are made from 14kt gold and have lovely circles of onyx at the centre. These are set within a rope twist design and have little gold flowers with natural seed pearls in the middle. The outer frame is a buckle motif, said to symbolise loyalty and everlasting love as once fastened, the buckle creates a continuous circle that is strong. The earrings enter the ear from the back to the front and have a good secure click once in place. A beautiful and unusual pair of earrings in excellent condition.

Size - The circle part of the earrings measure approximately 17mm in diameter and the little buckle tail makes the length around 21mm excluding the hook.
