Victorian 15ct Carnelian Night & Day Drop Earrings
A fabulous pair of earrings from the early Victorian period. The earrings are made from 15ct gold and have a night and day fitting, meaning that the long drops could be removed from the tops so that the tops can be worn alone for a daywear look. The long drops add glamour for the evening. They have wonderful deep orange carnelians that have a lovely, tactile feel. The tops have crimped settings and the hook comes forwards through the ear rather than going front to back. Often this would be tricky to put in, but I found these very simple and they have a good secure fastening. A beautiful pair of versatile earrings for every occasion.
