A beautiful ring from the end of the Victorian period, c1890s. The ring is made from solid 18ct gold with a small remnant of the original hallmark showing an ‘8’. The ring has been fully tested as 18ct gold; the ‘1’ has worn over time, though there is a little trace if it. It is a classic design with five graduated garnets claw set across the finger. The garnets are a beautiful colour; a lovely shade of deep pink synonymous with almandine garnets, a popular choice during this period. One is a slightly deeper shade, though it is faceted in a very similar way to all the others and it could have been set like this originally rather than have been replaced.
