A pretty pendant from the late Victorian period. This pendant is 18ct gold cased, meaning there is a thick sheet layer of 18ct gold surrounding an alternative metal within. It makes the pendant fairly weighty. The pendant has been made in the shape of an acorn and has two holes in the top and a larger figure of eight hole at the bottom. This would have been a slider on a long guard chain where a double chain goes in the top at two places and comes out together in the single hole at the bottom. Now, it makes a lovely pendant and can be worn either portrait or landscape; please see the pictures.
The chain pictured is complimentary with the acorn and is a modern 14kt gold filled chain.
