A pretty and unusual brooch from the Victorian period. The brooch is made from sterling silver and is an interesting design with nail heads to the bottom that curve around the top and almost form snake tails crossing at the centre. Hanging within this horseshoe shape is a dangling heart. This is such an unusual emblem as it seems to combine many areas of Victorian symbolism; horseshoe nails (luck), horseshoe shape (luck), snake (eternal love, wisdom) and a heart (love). The piece is set throughout with natural coral that are all original and fairly uniform in colour.
Chains pictured are for display only. The brooch sits well on a chain or worn on your lapel.
