A pretty pinky ring from the middle of the Victorian period with an inscription inside, which includes the date Nov 1st 1857. The ring is made from solid 18ct gold and has a lovely chunky look to it. The buckle design is prominent with intricate detailing and the band has a decorative design all around the outside, which has worn a little with time. At the top, the buckle has been set with a wonderful old mine cut diamond with a beautiful high table and a squarer shaped deep pink/red ruby.
At some point in antiquity, the buckle area has been reinforced with another piece of gold at the back. To my mind, this could have been a clever way to reduce the ring size as there does not look to be a weak point in this area and I cannot think what else it would be for.

Materials - 18ct Gold (tested), Diamond, Ruby
Age - Dated with an inscription for 1857
Size - The buckle is approx 8mm wide, whilst the band is around 5mm wide towards the back. The diamond is around 4mm in diameter and the ruby is approx 3.3mm square.
Ring Size - UK G US 3 ½ It would be difficult to resize this ring.
Condition - Very good. Diamond is excellent, wear to the facets of the ruby. As mentioned above, wear to the decorative engraving and gold reinforcement to the centre back.
