Victorian Elephant Hair Ring

sold out

A pretty and simple ring from the Victorian period, c1890s. The ring is made from 14kt gold that has a slight rosy hue and has been inlaid with two strands of elephant hair, likely brought back from a trip to India. The tail hair was often saved once the elephant had shed it and set into various souvenir items.

This has been beautifully made with two strands set side by side into two gold channels. The effect is very effective creating a stripe design. The ring has a plain panel to one side and a little decorative element to the other. You could have the panel engraved if you would like to peronalise the ring. Perfect worn alone or in a stack and very comfortable on the hand.
