A beautiful and detailed pencil pendant from the Victorian period. The pendant is made from silver and is enamelled throughout the centre with a lady carrying fruit in her apron. The painting is beautifully done in pink tones and the pencil is topped with a feather fleur-de-lis style design to the silver cap. The decoration has a real feel of toile-de-jouy designs; these are typically pastoral scenes in one colour on an off white background. The lady carrying the fruit would fit in with this style of design.
The pencil is no longer working and does not retract on the mechanism as it should. You can unscrew the cap, though to no real end. This is purely a decorative pendant. Chains pictured are for display only.
