Victorian Forget-Me-Not Belcher Chain, 18.75"

A beautiful quality chain from the Victorian period. The chain is made from solid 9ct gold, marked with a tab near the clasp. It is a lovely thick belcher link with the chain measuring around 3.5mm wide; it is wide enough to be worn alone, though could also be worn with pendants. The chain is complete with an unusual forget-me-not clasp. It looks like a barrel clasp, but is actually sprung and is in excellent working order. I believe the clasp to be very unusual.

I have tried to capture the spring mechanism in the pictures, though this is rather tricky. In fact, in practice, rather than using your fingernails, the spring can be pushed with the opposite jump ring to open and close with ease. Clever!
