A wonderful pendant from the Victorian period, likely from a chatelaine. The pendant is made from silver and has a niello pattern set into it, which is beautifully decorative. The pendant unscrews to reveal a long compartment inside and was likely used as a sewing case for needles. The top screws on securely and has an amazing gothic style bail. Whichever chatelaine this was originally a part of must have been quite something! The bail is ideal for slightly chunkier chains or fine links.

Size - The pendant measures approx 63mm long excluding the bail. The bail increases the length to 76mm. It is around 9mm wide at the top and narrows slightly at the bottom to 6.5mm.
Condition - Very good. Some wear to the niello commensurate with age. When screwing the top back on, you need to ensure you follow the thread; there is an extra turn at the end to line up the sides.
