An absolutely stunning and unusual scent bottle from the end of the Victorian period, dated Birmingham 1899 in the full English hallmarks and engraved for Jan~2~1901. The bottle is a lovely large size with a little chain on the top allowing it to be added to most chain necklaces, regardless of their width. It is beautifully engraved with a foliate design throughout and has a decoratively shaped cartouche at the front, which has the name Bee or initials BEE and the date as noted above. The bottle has a domed lid that opens on a hinge revealing a cork stopper. It appears to be lined and might have held perfume or smelling salts. Such a stunning and rare find!
