Victorian Large Star Pendant

A glorious pendant from the mid to late Victorian period, c1870s. The pendant is made from silver gilt and has a wonderful star shape, which is outlined with black enamel to the front. At the centre of the openwork star is a floral design with a seed pearl flower highlighted with turquoise trefoil designs. The gemstones are all set in pinched collet settings and the turquoise have a lovely pale colour. The star makes quite a statement on the neck as it is a beautiful large size.

Materials - Gilded Silver (tested), Turquoise, Seed Pearls, Enamel

Age - C1870s

Size - The star measures approx 42mm in diameter (excluding the bail)

Condition - Very good. Some wear to the enamel, commensurate with age, though no major chips. One turquoise has a little chip to one end, only visible through magnification
