Victorian Lucky Bean Vesta Case
A wonderful and rare vesta case from the turn of the last century, c1900. The vesta case is made from silver over brass and has a soft silver appearance with a mild yellow undertone. It hinges to the top on a secure hinge and would have contained matches. These would have been struck on the file in the curve of the bean. This shape of bean has always been worn as a lucky talisman and this is a giant version of this popular emblem. It has a lovely large bail to allow it to be worn on a fairly substantial chain.
