Victorian Memorial Ring with Diamond
A beautiful band ring from the Victorian period. The ring itself is hallmarked for Birmingham 1877, though the inscription remembers a man named John Gibson Whittles Ob. 17th July 1863. It seems the ring was made some years later to commemorate this man. The ring is a well loved memorial ring with the words ‘In Memory Of’ written in gothic script around the outside of the band. At the centre top is a star design, which exhibits remnants of black enamel and at the centre of the star is a beautiful table cut diamond. The diamond has a brooding appearance as is often the way with this cut.
There is not a lot I don’t like about this ring. Such understated beauty.
