A stunning locket from the Victorian period, c1860s-70s. The locket tests as 15ct gold with an 18kt gold gilding, which gives it a wonderful bloom. The entire front is set with little tesserae creating a micro mosaic depicting the dove of peace. The dove in flight is a universal symbol of peace and love. It sits in a beautiful, blue sky and has a pretty red and white border.
The locket is complete with its large decorative bail and has three mosaic drops. To the back, there is a glass covered locket in a frame that can be slid out of place to add your own photo inside. Such a spectacular size and in lovely antique condition.
