A gorgeous and vibrant pendant from the Victorian period. The pendant is made from 18ct gold and originates from Perpignan and the surrounding region in France, where they used to mine these stunning pink/red gemstones. The garnets have a distinctive colour and are faceted to the top, similar to rose cuts, and foiled to the back to enhance their stunning colour. This creates a wonderful play of light across the surface of the stones.
They sit in closed back settings and are designed as two clovers that meet at the centre with two little drops to complete the look, a round cut in the middle and a pear shape dangling to the bottom. Clovers typically represent faith, hope and love, a leaf for each virtue. The pendant is in wonderful condition and looks beautiful on the neck. The chain pictured is for display only.
