Victorian Seed Pearl Basket Earrings

A stunning and unusual pair of earrings from the Victorian period, c1870s. The earrings are made from solid 18ct gold and have pretty baskets hanging from two chains. The baskets have a lovely scalloped edge and are full of natural seed pearls that are threaded together with gold wire. The earrings look to resemble two baskets of fruit, commonly thought to symbolise abundance and prosperity. They move beautifully in the ear and have threaded posts with the original screw butterflies making them very secure in the ear.

Materials - 18ct Gold (tested), Seed Pearls

Age - Mid Victorian

Size - The baskets measure approx 11mm in diameter. The earrings are around 37mm long in total.

Condition - Very good.
