A gorgeous bracelet from the Victorian period with a lovely feel to the weight. The bracelet is made from solid silver and is probably French in origin, due to its style and look, though the marks are illegible. The bracelet is a classic curb link with an off square portrait locket at the centre. The locket has a pretty split pearl border and a gold frame around the central watercolour portrait of a lady. Through magnification the lady looks very faint, but when viewed from a distance, the portrait is very distinct. A clever trick.
Looking at the bracelet from the back, it seems as though you could remove the current portrait to place your own photo inside if preferred. I would advise that this was done by a skilled bench jeweller. The bracelet is complete with a bolt ring clasp in good working order and a safety chain for extra security.
