Victorian Silver Telescopic Pencil Charm

£0.00
sold out

A beautiful example of this style of pendant from the late Victorian period. This is a lovely telescopic pencil, which opens when you pull the ring at the top. The top extends when you pull and this mechanism allows the bottom to extend downwards to reveal the pencil. The four sided shape of the pencil is engraved with a beautiful foliate pattern. It is made from sterling silver, though there are no hallmarks. This pencil would have ben part of a chatelaine, which have held other important and useful everyday tools. Such a lovely one, perfect on a long silver chain.

NB: There is no lead in the pencil, though new leads are available online. The pencil is pictured with a glass locket, available separately. The chain is for display only.

Details:

Materials - Silver (tested)

Age - Late Victorian

Size - The pencil measures approx 69mm long when extended, excluding the bail, and is around 41mm long when closed, again excluding the bail.

Condition - Excellent.

Weight - 8.56g
