A stunning locket from the mid to late Victorian period. The locket is made from solid 15ct gold and has a matching design to the front and the back. The bottom of the design has a lovely scalloped shell look with the upper part more geometric. The locket is stamped on the original bail with a kitemark. These marks are similar to patent marks and the way in which this one is ordered indicates that this locket was stamped in November 1869 (letter H to the right is the year and the letter K in the bottom is the month, specific to these kitemarks).
The locket is in good antique condition with a firm closure. It has two frames present inside, though only one side has the original glass. These can be removed to place your own photos inside.
