Victorian Swallow Pendant
A beautifully designed swallow from the Victorian period. It has full English hallmarks on the back of the body and it looks to be dated Birmingham 1881, though the letter is not entirely clear. This does seems around the correct period, given its style. The swallow is made from sterling silver and has a slightly puffed body with a hollow construction. It has beautiful engraving to the front to represent the feathers and is in flight.
The pendant started life as a brooch, though it came to me as it is and has been converted to a pendant in antiquity. The chains pictured are for display only and are not for sale.
Details:
Materials - Sterling Silver (marked)
Age - Victorian
Size - The swallow measures approx 32.2mm long by 29mm wide (wingspan).
Condition - Very good. Silver remnants of the conversion on the back, noted for accuracy only.
Weight - 2.1g
