Vintage Opal & Diamond Petite Ring

£195.00

A pretty little ring from the early to mid 20th Century, c1940s. The ring is made from 9ct gold and palladium, marked on the inside of the shank. Palladium use in jewellery began in the 1930s and became popular during WWII to replace platinum that was being redirected for the war effort. It is from the same family and is also a white/silvery metal, though it is less dense than platinum. I love to find vintage palladium jewellery as it is fairly rare and from a snapshot in time.

This particular ring has a lovely, colourful opal at the centre with two tiny diamond chips on either side in star settings. The whole top of the ring is palladium, whilst the shank is yellow gold.
