Vintage Opal Doublet Ring
A wonderful ring with plenty of character. The ring is made from solid 9ct gold and is from the middle of the 20th Century, c1960s. It has a flash of opal with plenty of fire and colour. The opal is a wonderfully colourful slither that sits on a layer of black ‘potch’, classic to a doublet. Behind this is a thicker white rock to allow it to be set inside the closed back setting. The top level of opal seems to have been worn to create this artistic look, resembling that of a boulder opal and revealing the layers beneath. I love the remaining picture, particularly within the triangular shape, and it has created a very interesting feature to the ring.
This ring should be worn with care.
